Volunteers
Volunteers with a soft spot for Golden Retrievers are needed all over Northern California by NORCAL Golden Retriever Rescue, Inc., a nonprofit, all-volunteer corporation.

There are so many things that need to be done, and everything must be done by volunteers. Please look over our list of "volunteer opportunities" and let our Volunteer Coordinator know the area(s) which interest you by completing the E-Mail form below.

The community of NGRR volunteers is large and very supportive. Please join us!

Hands-On Dog Work:
Area Coordinator for your living area
Assisting the Coordinator:
          Foster Care: Foster dogs waiting for a home. Even if you can't do this on a full time basis, take in a dog on a one time or emergency basis.
Please fill out our Foster Home Application also.
          Home Visits: Visit the homes of people wishing to adopt.
          Vet appointments: Taking our dogs to the vet.
          Shelter Checks: checking the local shelters for possible adoptees.
          Phone Calls
          Grooming
Transportation: Moving dogs and foods as necessary within your area.
Senior Golden Program: Working with and finding homes for Senior Goldens.
 
Fundraising:
Fundraising Event Coordinator and workers: The following are our basic events:
        AUCTION AND WINE TASTING: November in Lafayette (Our biggest event.)
        WAG 'N WALK: June in Pleasanton. (Bring your dog, it's loads of fun.)
        Golden Gate Dog Show: Early February in San Francisco.
        Golden Retriever Specialty: Late February in San Jose.
        Golden Retriever Specialty: July in Carmel.
Merchandise Sales: We need sales people at all of the above events.
Merchandise Transportation: Help move merchandise to one of the above events. Requires at least two people and a van.
Mail-Order: Fill our orders for merchandise from the Redwood City warehouse.
Catalog: Help with the design of a merchandise catalog for the newsletter and web site.
Calendar: Help put together our yearly calendar.
Grant Writing
Letter Writing: handling the basic thank you notes for donations.
 
Operations:
Volunteer Coordinator: Schedule volunteers for events and as needed.
Transportation Coordinator: Move dogs and food as needed.
Weekly Dog List: Put out our weekly list of adoptable dogs.
Mailing List: Keep our mailing list up to date from provided information. (Basic program maintenance.)
Inventory Tracking
Basic Computer Input.
 
Program Outreach and Education:
Event Coordinator: Help plan and execute small events e.g. NGRR Parade at the February Specialty.
Newsletter: Write public interest stories and editorials for the newsletter.
Web Programmer (Experienced).
Education Program Coordinator: Put on educational programs for your community that let people know who we are.
Fight Against Puppy Mills: Can be included with the above.
