Sierra & Best Buddy Bandit |
by Julie Murphy
My husband and I first rescued from you 11 years ago when we adopted our loving Golden, Molly. She was found tied behind a barn to die and after 6 foster homes in 6 months we brought Molly home and spent the next 10 years very happy. She was the ultimate dog, and sadly, we lost her in October of '99 to cancer. My son, Michael, is 7 years old and was devastated. They were inseparable. He would take her picture to school every day and cry every night missing her. I couldn't bare it, so we decided to go to Pet Club for their adoption day. Furry Friends organization was there with dogs available and my son immediately went to Bandit. He is a Golden Retriever mix. Michael was so happy. After a month, he said "I like Bandit, but I still miss Molly."
I decided to call NORCAL and see who was available. We were matched to Sierra, and drove to Lodi to get her. She is a 5-year-old Golden and needed lots of love. She was stuck in a backyard and 2 inches had to be cut off of her toenails. She foamed at the mouth anytime anyone came into view and would bark out of control.
Sierra and Bandit hit it off right away, became fast friends and are now inseparable. They play all day and sleep all night. They love to swim and play tug of war. They are constantly kissing each other and Bandit loves to clean Sierra's ears.
We have had her for 5 months and I have to tell you, you would not know she was the same dog. She loves to go to the beach and swim, and is very happy. She is loving, and loyal. My son is truly happy again and we are happy again.
We are truly blessed and proud to be able to say we adopted through NORCAL. Everyone involved should be commended. It's the only way I will adopt a Golden when we need to.
We thank all of you who work so hard to find homes for these dogs. They deserve it, and we are blessed. Goldens are wonderful, and we thank you for making it possible to adopt from your organization.
