We are the proud companions to wonderful 13 month male Golden that was placed with us through the Golden Retriever Rescue. Shadow's story was seen on this web page. When he was found in a warehouse he was terribly underweight and had been eating wood and drinking lots of water to keep his stomach full. Thanks to a very loving foster home in Contra Costa County, he gained about 20 pounds and was trying hard to overcome his insecurity when left alone. We have 3 teenagers and 2 cats so Shadow is constantly getting affection. He is always sitting right next to one of us and especially enjoys sneaking up on the bed at night. We were worried because his stamina was so low when we got him- a few throws of the ball and he was exhausted. But after eating like a horse over the holidays, he only has 10 more pounds to gain and I was so proud of him today because we just completed a 6 mile hike at Sunol Regional Park and he led the way!! I feel that we are most fortunate to be able to share our lives with this dog. My hope is that we have many years together. And I can't thank this organization enough for all the wonderful things that they do for these animals.
