NORCAL Golden Retriever Rescue Update by Kathy Allen Luke - Looking Good
1999 One-year update - Luke is giving back to his brothers and sisters by allowing us to foster another ole boy who was given up due to family illness. He hasn't quite gotten into the spirit of giving, hides his tennis balls or lays on them. The new fella, name of Mike can handle two balls at a time and probably 3 if he could find them. Luke has made believers out of my 2 daughter in laws who were not pro dogs until they found out what a kind and gentle animal goldens are. He was also a great protector this summer when our family camped in the trinity alps area in northern Ca. We had bear visitors in the night, but his deep growls saved our marshmallows for another night. He also accompanied the ladies to the bathrooms in the dark and waited so patiently for us, keeping an eye out for intruders. Luke loves to swim in rivers, but not pools. He enjoyed Halloween this year, wore a great costume and greeted all of the kids. At any family gatherings he likes to wear his red bandana and be dressed up with the rest of us. About him looking good in my Saturn, I traded that in and got us a very nice van to tote him and any new buddies in!! |
