![]() Jaynie & Her New Pals |
by Donna Kilmer
Well, waiting for our dog Jaynie was definitely one of those situations where the phrase "worth the wait" was so true.
We filled out our application and knew that we were probably in for a wait because our requirements were a little different than most. We have 2 children, and like most parents of young children, we wanted to make sure that the dog we adopted was gentle and kind. One of our children, our son Scott is a child with a mental and visual disability, therefore it was crucial that our request for a very sweet dog be met. During our waiting period, there were 2 other dogs that were possible adoptees for us, but the doors closed for different reasons. We were a little disappointed but we knew that the right dog for us and our son's special needs was out there somewhere. I was so happy when I finally received a call from Corrina (the day before my birthday) and she informed me that she had just received the "perfect" dog for our family.
We arranged a meeting and Corrina and her husband brought Jaynie to us. They had her on a leash, but her collar was not on tight enough, needless to say, she bolted. We all went different directions chasing this slightly overweight dog through our neighborhood, I've never seen such a big dog run so fast! Well, we finally got her and introduced her to the backyard, our very large backyard. After spending about an hour with her, we knew that she was just "perfect" for us.
Jaynie has been with us now for about 4 weeks, and we adore her. She is everything we have been waiting for. She is gentle, sweet, obedient, and for the most part, pretty quiet. My kids love her, and I adore her and spoil her every chance I get.
I want to thank NORCAL so very much for this wonderful program and for uniting us with our girl Jaynie. My hope is that everyone searching for a dog will consider NORCAL, I certainly have done my share of singing their praises.
Sincerely,
Phil, Donna, Scott, & Kayla Kilmer
