by Kevin and Bev, and Buddy and Maggie of course!
After owning a Golden for two years, my wife and I decided to get her a companion. With a large house and a lot of space, we felt like we would be able to offer a great home to a rescued Golden. Our search hooked us up with the Butte County representative for Norcal, Maureen. Maureen was excellent in helping us decide on a male or female, and in locating Buddy for us. Buddy had been abandoned and found as a stray when he was turned in to a local veterinarian. Ironically the vet knew who owned the dog and upon contacting them, they did not want him. Severely malnourished, and in need of some TLC, Maureen took Buddy home with her and cleaned him up.
He had severe matting of his fur around his hind end, and more than 5 foxtails in his ears. The vet said that he did not know how to sit...no wonder with all that matting. Additionally, he had not been nuetered. Once Maureen notified us that Buddy was in her possession, we arranged a meeting. It was definitely love at first sight. Buddy is only about a year old, and is as gentle as a lamb. How anyone could not want this guy was beyond belief. I can still see him standing on his hind legs, watching me drive away after our first meeting.
It has been almost a month since we adopted Buddy. He is a darling and a perfect companion to our Maggie. They play relentlessly, and keep an eye on each other.
So if you are thinking about adopting, GO FOR IT!
