NGGR 9th Wag ‘n Walk

Another Great Success Story!

The 9th NGRR Wag ‘n Walk has come and gone, and once again, we were blessed with continued great success of raising funds for Rescue! Wag ‘n Walk has become one of NGRR’s largest fund raisers of the year, as well as an event that many would consider a “reunion” among friends, both human and canine.

The 9th Wag ‘n Walk event was attended by over 250 walkers and 165 dogs; canine participants proudly wore their Encina Veterinary Hospital bandanas while their owners modeled their colorful T-shirts, designed by artist Gene Guevera of Walnut Creek.

Hallie, our 2008 Wag’n Walk Mascot, owned (and much-loved) by Maureen Drotleff and Bob Knickerbocker, lead the walk around the reservoir. Following the walk, dogs and their families had a chance to rest and watch three exciting demonstrations by Bay Area Diving Dogs, Rev It Up Flyball Team and Paws with a Cause, therapy dogs. Each club displayed the talents of their canine and human members along with the obvious pleasures of being able to work closely with their best friends!

Attendees also had the opportunity to win their chance at NGRR’s annual $10,000 raffle, along with exciting prizes from the Silent Auction and Gift Basket Raffle.

Many thanks to our 2008 sponsors, who, because of their generosity, have allowed all the proceeds from this walk to go directly to our rescue dogs in need and to the 2008 Wag ‘n Walk team who worked endless hours to put this event together: Lynn Parapar, Laurel Stanley, Ellen Beritzhoff, Maureen Drotleff, Kathy Quiroz, Bob Breakstone, Deborah Bevilaqua and Linda Knowles.
