An update . . . Travis' family was touched
and grateful for the memorial their friends created in his honor. During our
conversations, they shared with us a bit of Travis' life with them . . . "It's only been a little over two weeks since
we had to say good-bye to Travis and since everything happened so quickly, we didn't have
much time to prepare for our time without him. He was so much a part of our lives and
everyone's lives who he touched. He lived a good and happy life - he was a special boy
with lots and lots of heart.
We used to say that Travis was really lucky that we adopted him - he was on his last day at the San Mateo pound, covered with diarrhea, but had the face of an angel who pleaded with me to take him home and spring him from doggie jail. After being washed up, we had some private time to get to know one another, and instantly bonded. After completing all the necessary paperwork, Travis came home with us. When he walked inside the house, he went over to the drapes, picked up his leg, and peed on them! But after 11 years with Travis, I can honestly say that we were the lucky ones. He loved his family unconditionally and gave us years and years of friendship and entertainment!" And as you can see, ever the camera ham, Travis enjoyed dressing up for Easter "photo shoots" too! |
