Dear Fred,

You came into our lives July 22, 2000.  It was love at first sight and our good fortune that someone gave you to Norcal Golden Retriever Rescue.  You were 4 years old and 108 pounds of love.  We walked you twice a day and fed you diet food and soon you were a trim 91 pounds but we always held our breath when you went for your annual check ups and got on the scale.  We hoped we didn’t give in too often to those beautiful brown eyes.

You learned some words that we eventually had to spell.  Walk, ride, dinner but selectively all other words meant it is time for a treat and you would head to the cabinet where we kept the Milk Bones.  You trained us well because most of the time we followed and gave you one.  Your first Wag ‘n Walk was exciting.  We quickly found out that we either unhook your leash and let you swim in the lake with the other dogs or we were going with you.  You were beautiful, loving and perfectly trained.  You never met a person or a dog you didn’t love.  Your were a wonderful host to your four legged visitors.  Gary taught you to swim and Peanut was a good source of extra food.  She is a slow eater and you could sneak up on her bowl when we weren’t paying attention.

You crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Aug 8, 2006.  We are grateful for the six wonderful years but they were not enough.  We know there is a contract when you let a dog into your life and that some day it will end.  We must admit we hate that part.  We celebrate your life but we miss you terribly and you will always occupy a warm place in our hearts.

Love

Tom and Penny Silvester
