Puppy Rescue in Yolo County
The Yolo county sheriff acted on a citizen complaint of the awful conditions in a puppy mill, issued a warrant, and seized 19 dogs. Breed rescue groups were alerted, and NGRR took in six Golden adults and four puppies. The puppies and Cassie, their mom (shown here) , will remain in our care until she is well and the puppies are old enough to be adopted. All of the other adults have already been adopted except for Clarabelle, whose story is below. For the complete story of the rescue, click here

Clarabelle needs your help!!!
Clarabelle was part of the Yolo county rescue and has serious medical issues, which will require surgery. Clarabelle is the sweetest little girl, and it breaks our hearts to see wonderful animals like her mistreated and neglected. You can help NGRR by donating to Clarabelle’s surgery fund by clicking here. You can read more about Clarabelle’s condition by clicking here. For an update on Clarabelle, please click here.

Buyer Beware- The perfect family pet may come from a not so perfect seller.

You want to get a cute dog for the family at the best deal. You look in the papers and on the internet and find the ad for that perfect dog at a very low price. You go see it, it’s a beautiful Golden Retriever puppy, they show you papers, the dog looks Ok and the kids are ecstatic. What could go wrong?

Plenty.

There are unscrupulous breeders who raise dogs in appalling conditions, provide false documents, and the animals frequently have serious medical or behavioral problems which of course don’t show in that magical moment when you hold it in your arms. You’re stuck with a sick or troubled dog, the kids are upset, and the seller isn’t about to give you your money back. To find out more and how to protect yourself, click here.
